Solarization Resistant Fibers from Fiberguide Industries
Fibers’ coating protects against solarization during deep UV exposure

(Stirling, NJ - July 21, 2009)

Leading optical fiber manufacturer Fiberguide Industries has introduced a full line of standard solarization resistant fibers for deep UV applications.  The fibers are ideal for spectroscopy, lithography and excimer laser delivery applications where fibers are exposed to deuterium lamp transmission (190nm to 230nm) or ArF-Excimer (193nm) laser.

Prolonged UV transmission below 260nm causes solarization in optical fibers, reducing their UV transmittance significantly.  Fiberguide’s solarization resistant fibers use a modified core preform that protects fiber from the damaging effects of deep UV.  These fibers have excellent performance and long-term stability at 30 to 40% transmission (for 215nm).  Fiber core sizes can be produced from 50um to greater than 1000um.  Custom cabled or multi-fiber assemblies are also available.
