For over forty years Fiberguide Industries has built a reputation as a reliable, long-term, strategic partner with Original Equipment Manufacturers by providing cost-effective, practical fiber optic solutions engineered to meet a client’s specific needs. However, that’s not the only partnership that has contributed to the company’s success. Fiberguide is proud to have an extensive international network of distribution partners. These partners expand the reach of Fiberguide to better address the needs of current and future clients with innovative solutions.
Fiberguide Begins Life as a National Company
In 1977, when Ted Rich founded Fiberguide in New Jersey, he may not have envisioned the international reach the company would eventually have. Rich established Fiberguide as a specialty optical fiber manufacturer producing both non-standard fibers and specially coated fibers for the nuclear, medical, industrial, and energy industries. As demand grew, Fiberguide merged with Highlight Fiber Optics in Idaho, later opening a state-of-the-art CNC Machining Center there. This new center marked a significant expansion for Fiberguide, but that was just the beginning.
The Company Expands to Serve an International Audience
Since the 1990s, Fiberguide has been expanding its network of distributors around the globe in order to serve an expanding international client base better. The company opened a Chinese sales office in 2010, followed by a manufacturing facility in Shanghai in 2012. This location manufactures, stocks, and ships products to Chinese customers, thus reducing transport and customs complications. The Shanghai expansion marked the beginning of a direct international presence with more to come. In 2018, for example, an account manager was added in Europe to serve customers better.
A Global Network of Distributors to Address Client’s Needs
Today, the strong network of global distributors has the technological expertise to provide all of Fiberguide’s products and services to customers. Each of these partners is assigned a Fiberguide manager who regularly visits to answer questions and provide training. Clients can call their local distributor at any time without any concerns about differences in time zones, or visit their nearby office to view products or have a meeting. And if a client has a custom order, their local distributor can draw on the expertise of Fiberguide engineers to deliver an innovative solution.
